Memorial University
brandx refreshed the signage and wayfinding standards for Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), merging three historical brand standards (1965, 1995, and 2019) into a unified, comprehensive manual. This new guide is pivotal in defining a consistent and visually engaging signage system across MUN’s 489-acre campus network.
A key feature of our approach was the development of a universal pictogram and icon library. Designed with MUN’s diverse community in mind, our work facilitates intuitive navigation for a global faculty and student body from nearly 100 countries, while adhering to ADA compliance and best practices.
Emphasizing cultural inclusivity, we integrated Inuktitut, Innu-aimun, and Mi’kmaq languages into the signage to respect and celebrate the region's indigenous heritage and the university's indigenous student population. Our initiative at MUN goes beyond visual improvement, embodying our dedication to fostering an environment that is inclusive, accessible, and culturally resonant.
